Bali Itinerary

I didn't have a plan, but this is what my trip ended up looking like, you might like to use it as a basis to plan your trip or how long you are going to stay... note, if I go again, I would cover more of the island, and will bring some friends!

Whatever the case, don't plan too much because things happen.. I went to Bali for a cultural experience, and something happened half-way through my trip that made me want to go back to the comforts of Kuta, so I'm glad everything was optional for me, so I can change my mind in an instant.

1 day Airport, South Kuta, Hotel Check in, Familiar with surroundings
4 days Kuta, Shopping, Nightlife, cooking course
3 days Denpasar, Staying with Local, Denpasar Market, Sanur
2 days Ubud, Ubud Market, Massage, Relax
5 days Kuta, shopping, nightlife
4 days Ubud, massage, language lessons, cremation ceremony
1 day Denpasar Art/Craft Festival - Opening Ceremony
1 day Ubud, language lesson
6 days Kuta, shopping, beach, nightlife

Kuta and Seminyak are the party places. Lots of Western tourists and places to accommodate them. You can have any type of holiday you want in Bali, no doubt about it. Kuta/Seminyak have heaps of night clubs.

In Kuta, the place to be seen for Aussies is Paddies in Legian St. Right next door is the coolest place in Bali, the Apache Reggae Bar, you won't find many tourists in there, but check it out if you like that seen, I loved that place. And then you have the Bounty, full of Javanese prostitutes and a lot of sleaze. Read my diary for more info about these places.

In Seminyak, the nightclubs are full, loud, and really "happenin'", but it wasn't my scene at all.

In Ubud, the Putra Reggae Bar (watch the friendly, love-starved staff) is the place I liked the best for it's atmosphere, but there are other places there. Ubud is quieter than Kuta, so the entertainment is more relaxed too. It is here where you'll find restaurants that provide traditional dances/shows.
